Adding Retrospective Shifts

To improve visibility and reduce the volume of retrospective shifts, users will now be required to provide a reason when requesting an hourly, on-call, or sessional shift dated in the past.

Why is this being introduced?

We’re introducing this change to support both Patchwork and partner organisations by:

🌟 Providing visibility into why shifts are being submitted retrospectively – this data will be surfaced in Patchwork Insights.

📊 Enabling organisations to use this data to challenge services and reduce the number of retrospective shift requests going forward.

1. How do users submit a reason?

Users will be prompted to select a reason from a list of predefined options.
If they choose “Other”, they’ll be asked to enter more detail in a free text box.

2. Where can I see this data?
You can view submitted reasons under the 'Retrospective Shifts' tab in the Shift Management Dashboard on Patchwork Insights.
