If you are in one of the following Trust please follow the process below:

  • Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust

  • Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

  • London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust

  • Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust

  • Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust

  • St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

  • The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

  • Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

1) Select the shift you want to escalate.

Find shift > Open shift modal (6-digit shift ID) > Select Rate escalation

2) Input new rates

In the menu select request escalation > Input core rate > Input Unsocial Rate > Input Reason

You can choose a different amount for core and unsocial. If the shift is just core, don't worry, just type in the same amount for unsocial. (you can do the same for Unsocial)

Inputting a rate request reason will help the authoriser understand the nature of importance of the escalation.

3) Select the appropriate permissions. Depending on your account permissions you will see some of the options listed below:

  • I need someone to authorise this for me

  • I already have an authorisers permission*

  • I can authorise this myself.*

*if you select these options, the shift list will automatically capture the new rates and refresh on the shift list view.

3b) If you select I need someone to authorise this for me, you will be prompted to select an authoriser from a list. (This will be pre-populated by authorisers as decided by the Trust.)

4) Tap Submit, an email will be sent to the authoriser to approve the escalation.

5) The authoriser must approve the escalation via email.

6) Once the authoriser has approved the escalation the shift list will automatically update to reflect the new rate.

How do I know my Escalation has been Approved or Rejected?

Two things will happen:

  1. You will receive an email notification outlining the approval or rejection, and why it's been rejected.

  2. The shift rate will automatically update on Patchwork. Both the Hub and App will show the rate you have requested automatically. Happy days.

If the checkbox is active, you can go ahead and Escalate yourself.

Can I Escalate A Shift That Is Booked or Awaiting Approval?

No, Escalations are intended for shifts that are vacant. If you have use case for Escalating Booked shifts, please email help@patchwork.health and tell us what you’re trying to achieve.
