How do I turn on MFA?

Instructions to turn on MFA

You will need to contact the Patchwork support team to turn on MFA for your organisation. To use MFA you will need the following:

  • An authenticator app (for example, FreeOTP, Microsoft authenticator, or Google authenticator) downloaded for each Bank or Rota portal user.
  • A small number of named administrators within the trust who have the authority to validate and reset MFA for users if needed.

Once turned on users should complete the following steps:

Step 1: Next time you log in to Patchwork, you will be prompted to set up MFA

  1. Download an authenticator app onto the appropriate mobile device(for example, FreeOTP, Microsoft authenticator, or Google authenticator)
  2. Allow the authenticator app access to your camera so that you can scan the QR code on the screen. There is usually a + icon on these apps to give you this option.
  3. The QR code will generate a 6-digit passcode. Enter that code into the boxes on the screen. This code should regenerate every 30 seconds. If you miss it, just enter the newly regenerated 6-digit code.
  4. Name your device and proceed.

Step 2: Navigate to your portal
Now you’re set up for MFA with Patchwork. From this screen, you can navigate to your usual Patchwork applications (Bank, Superhub or Rota).

Step 3: Use your new login credentials
You’ll see a new login screen where you can enter your email address and password to log in.

Step 4: Enter your 6-digit code
For added security, you’ll need to enter a 6-digit code which can be found in the authenticator app you used previously.
Once you have logged in, you can seamlessly navigate between any of the patchwork applications, without the need for another password or one-time code entry.
If you remain active during the day, you won’t have to log in again. If you are inactive for more than 30 mins, the session will end, and you will need to log in again.
