Learn how to use multiple filters and drill functionality for targeted analysis on any dashboard.
Patchwork Insight's extensive filters and drill functionality give you full control over your data, helping you to perform deeper analysis, focus on key information, and create a more customised experience.
Using dashboard filters
-
Navigate to your chosen dashboard.
-
Click the 🔽 to expand the filter menu. All dashboards have a range of filters that can vary from tab to tab. The filters you select are sticky, so they will be remembered even when you navigate between tabs or away from that dashboard.
-
For example, to adjust the date range, use the date picker. Navigate to a desired Start date using the next month or year arrow.
-
Once chosen, your selected start date will be highlighted to confirm your updated date range.
-
Next, click the End Date field to set the end of the reporting period. Unless stated otherwise, end dates are inclusive. Today's date is circled, providing a quick reference to confirm that you are viewing the most up-to-date information.
-
Click the collapse 🔼 arrow icon to hide the menu and view your filtered data.
Using the drill functionality for a deeper dive into your data
Drill-downs and drill-ups enable you to explore data in more detail within a single visual. There are two ways to access the the drill functionality and expand features for visuals.
Using the 'drill' arrows
-
Look for the grey text beneath a graph title, which signals the different ways for you to explore any visual.
-
Use the up and down arrows to drill into your data. For example, you can explore metrics like 'count of filled shifts by grade, day of the week, specialty, or reason' all within one visual.
-
When you 'drill down' or 'drill up', the visual will update automatically. To return to the original view, just click the 'drill up to top' button.
-
You can also use drill functionality by hovering over a visual and right-clicking, a menu will appear to show the options available.
🚀 You can use the reset button in the top right hand corner to clear all filters and drill-downs and return to the default dashboard view. Don't worry, you can't 'break' anything by exploring!
