How to manage visa restrictions on a worker's profile

Learn more about how you can manage a worker's visa restriction in Patchwork

You can assign one of the following visa types to a worker’s profile, ensuring compliance with their working hours:

  • Student visa – 10-hour restriction
  • Student visa – 20-hour restriction
  • Sponsored work visa – 20-hour restriction

You can assign a visa to a worker using the ‘Visa’ tab on the worker profile settings. The visa type you select will determine whether the worker is eligible for a maximum of either 10 or 20 hours of work.

If a worker with visa limitations applies for a shift that would result in them exceeding their allowed weekly hours (a week is classed as Monday to Sunday), you will receive a warning notification via the shift application. You are still able to approve a worker to a shift should you choose to do so (for example if your organisation runs a work week from Saturday to Friday and you know that the worker would not be in breach of their visa).

For workers with ‘instant booker’ status, if working the desired shift would take them beyond their weekly allowed hours, they will be redirected to apply for the shift instead. They can continue using instant booking as usual if their existing booked shifts do not exceed the permitted hours.
