Request and authorise a rate escalation with our simple, configurable tool.
1. Select the shift you want to escalate
Navigate to 'View All Shifts' > Open the shift by clicking the unique shift ID > Select 'Rate Escalation'.
2. Input the new rates
In the menu select 'Request Escalation':
- Input the new core rate
- Input the new unsocial rate
- Input reason
You can choose a different amount for core and unsocial as needed.
🚀Inputting a rate request reason is mandatory, and will help the authoriser understand the nature and importance of the escalation.
3. Select the appropriate authoriser for the escalation
Depending on your account permissions you will see one or more of the options listed below:
-
I need someone to authorise this for me
-
I already have an authorisers permission*
-
I can authorise this myself*
*Selecting either option 2 or 3 and clicking 'Save Changes' will cause the shift to automatically capture the new rates, update and refresh on the shift list view.
If you select option 1, you will be prompted to select an authoriser from a list. This will be a pre-populated list of authorisers as decided by your organisation.
4. Select 'Request Rate Escalation' or 'Save Changes'
❗Where indicated, the authoriser will always be sent an email receipt to confirm the new shift rate has been authorised in their name.
If you have selected option 1, the authoriser must approve the escalation via email. Once the authoriser has approved the escalation the shift list will automatically update to reflect the new rate.
How do I know when my escalation has been approved or rejected?
Two things will happen:
-
You will receive an email notification outlining the approval or rejection, and if necessary why it has been rejected
-
The shift rate will automatically update on Patchwork. Both the hub and app will show the rate you have requested automatically
Can I escalate a shift that has a booked or awaiting sign-off status?
Escalations are intended for shifts that are vacant, however, it is possible to request an escalation in the same way as described above.
Can I escalate a shift that has a signed-off or approved status?
No, escalations are not appropriate for shifts that have been signed-off or approved for payment.
💡If the escalation is not approved before shift sign-off, the original rate will apply.
